Upcoming Japanese Language Speech Contest

We would like to let you know about two upcoming Japanese Language Speech Contests which could be great opportunities for your students to put their Japanese language skills to the test.

Attached are flyers for each event for you to share with your students, colleagues, or anyone that you think may be interested!

Sonoma State University Japanese Speech Contest

The Komaru-Koutsu Foundation, Fukuyama City University and Sonoma State University are partnering to present the 3rd Japanese Language Speech Contest.

This contest provides a unique platform for participants to showcase their language skills while fostering a deeper connection between Japanese and local Sonoma County communities. This event is free and open to the public.

Speeches must be on the topic of transportation as a tool for global engagement.

Date: Tuesday, October 28

Time: 3:00 to 5:00 PM

Place: Student Center, Sonoma State University

Deadline to Register: October 1, 2025

★Up to four selected contestants traveling more than 50 miles to compete in this event may be eligible to receive a travel stipend to assist with travel costs.

第48回日本語弁論大会 / 48th Annual Japanese Speech Contest

The Japanese American Association of Northern California (Hokka Nichi Bei Kai), the Northern California Japanese Teachers’ Association (NCJTA), and the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco are proud to present the 48th Annual Japanese Speech Contest.

The primary objective of this contest is to encourage the learning and use of the Japanese language in our community, particularly among non-native speakers. This speech contest represents a fun and challenging way for students at all levels to demonstrate their language and communication skills. This event is free and open to the public.

 

Date: Sunday, November 2

Time: 1:00 PM

Place: Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (Located in SF Japantown)

Deadline to Register: October 10, 2025 @ 5:00 PM
